I began my running journey in 2001, joining my high school cross country team so I could hang out with my friends after school. I immediately fell in love with the sport and the comradery that came along with it. Since then, I have raced everything from 1 mile on an indoor track to a road marathon to a 50-mile trail ultramarathon (with a few 50ks sprinkled in there). Running has been a passion of mine for more than half my life. Although I don’t run to chase times anymore, I still love the physical and mental challenges.
One thing that has always been constant in my journey is helping my friends and family achieve their goals. It brings a smile to my face when I see an athlete set a goal and work hard to achieve it. I began coaching around 2013 when my sister wanted help running her first half marathon. From that point on, I was hooked. The following year I started coaching at a kids’ triathlon camp and have been coaching people of all ages and skill levels since then. The athletes I coach inspire me each day with their hard work and dedication. No one is forced to run; these athletes are choosing to do so! If that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is.
When I’m not coaching, you can catch me running with my friends or out discovering new trails. Staying active gives me that runner’s high we’re all looking for! I also enjoy traveling with my wife and playing ball with my dog.
Coaching accomplishments: I have coached multiple runners to 100 mile trail finishes, multiple Boston Qualifier marathons, and countless PRs in the 5k, 10k, half and full marathon distance.
Personal accomplishments: Completed one 50 mile trail race in 10:52, over ten 50Ks with a PR of 4:55, numerous sub ultra trail races, 1:30 PR in the half marathon distance, and a 3:11 PR in the marathon.
